Wanna know what’s Good for You?

Our mission is inspired by the belief that local parks and recreation improve the lives of Pennsylvanians. “Good for You.” serves a statewide advocacy channel for the essential and irreplaceable nature of local parks & recreation in Pennsylvania’s communities.

Have you been to a local park anywhere in Pennsylvania? If so, Good for You! Local PA Parks and Recreation are free for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Good for You is an undertaking sponsored by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources to show the world all the benefits available in PA’s local parks and recreation.

Like we keep saying, Pennsylvania’s local parks and recreation facilities are Good for You, giving you the space, place, and peace to do your thing, both inside and out. And it’s good for your own inside and out, too – for your physical and mental health, your family, your community, and your local economy. Read on to find out more.

Good for your kids

Here’s something good to know: Children who live within two-thirds of a mile from a park with a playground are five times more likely to be a healthy weight. Time spent outside leads to higher levels of physical activity in children.

Recreation centers offer all sorts of safe and fun activities for the younger set, including sports, arts, nature education and appreciation, and even help with homework. And don’t forget the summer camp programs happening throughout the state. Those are great for keeping kids active (and parents sane) during the summer months.

Thank a park pro!

When you find the right park to enjoy or explore, remember that it takes a village of trained park professionals to maintain so many Good for You spaces. You may never see them, but they are there in every park on this map, spreading their goodness for you.
