The Good for PA Parks Finder App Lets you Search by Location, Amenities & Even Features, like Scenic Views, Pet Allowed and Yurts!
State College, PA – (October 2, 2023) – The new Park Finders app can make sure you don’t miss these last few peak weekends for Pennsylvania’s fall foliage. The app allows you to search by location and features for a park anywhere in Pennsylvania to meet your needs. A dropdown menu of 74 amenities lets you search for the elements of your perfect outdoor day. It includes such options as: scenic views, hiking, dog park, dog friendly, backpacking, bicycling, horseback riding, natural wild areas, rock climbing, playground, camping and even yurts.
The simple-to-use app is part of the updated good for PA web site. Through good for PA, the Pennsylvania Recreation & Park Society (PRPS) encourages Pennsylvanians to explore the commonwealth’s 12,000 miles of hiking trails in its 6,250 local parks.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR), which originated the idea of a Parks Finder, Pennsylvania has a longer and more varied fall foliage season that any other state in the nation. Due to our latitude and varied topography, trees that thrive in northern and southern climates find a common meeting ground in Pennsylvania and create one of the most glorious natural shows on earth.
Peak fall foliage season runs from late September to late October across Pennsylvania and is concentrated in early- to mid-October.
